Buyer’s remorse, Obama fatigue
Like most of you, I have been watching with increasing chagrin the political tomfoolery and chicanery that passes for the Congress of these United States nowadays. We have political gridlock everywhere one looks in either political direction. Nothing of consequence is getting done in the House of Representatives while the people’s business languishes and the lobbying industry flourishes.
The Senate under the laughable leadership of Harry Reid et al hasn’t produced a required budget in more than 1,200 days (that is three years, four months). Nothing of consequence is getting done in the Senate either, while the people’s business languishes and the lobbying industry flourishes.
In its present form, Congress is an anachronism, a dinosaur, completely useless, and a parody of what Congress once seemed to be. The only way to fix what is wrong is to go to Washington and start handing out pink slips to 528 elected “representatives” of the people. (There are 435 in the House and 100 in the Senate.) There might be seven people we want to keep.
This writer has buyer’s remorse and Obama fatigue. It is time to retire this Congress and start overfrom scratch. If we filled the vacancies from the phone book, we would end up with better government, no doubt. We hired ’em, and we can fire ’em. Thankfully, Obama cannot run again so we finally get to fire him, too.

Owner urged to protect pet
While traveling on Double Church Road in Stephens City, I have seen a beautiful yellow cat stalking about along the shoulder of the road and in the fields next to the road.
The feline crossed the highway in front of our truck last week and, fortunately for him, nothing was behind us and he made it to the other side. I have seen this cat many times and in many places along this route, and I am very concerned about his well-being.
I would like to think this is an oversight, that the owner of this cat is not aware of his near-death experiences. So I ask you now, if this is your cat, please keep him inside where he will not become 1) road kill, 2) food for fox which are in the area, or 3) a victim of poison which evil people are inclined to put out to destroy anything like this that comes on their property.
Please protect your pet! He does not know how to stay safe, but you can keep him that way.
