WINCHESTER — Police are asking for help finding a woman who allegedly stole another woman’s purse in a local grocery store.

On Tuesday at about 2:10 p.m., a white female took a purse from another woman’s shopping cart at the Martin’s at 200 Rivendell Court off North Frederick Pike (U.S. 522), according to a Frederick County Sheriff’s Office news release on Thursday.

The woman, who is described as having red or blond hair put up in a ponytail, allegedly took the victim’s wallet and left the purse on a shelf. She then departed the store and drove away in a two-tone white Volvo with a sunroof, according to the release.

Capt. Al Sibert said money and credit cards were inside the wallet, but the cards have not been used yet. Sibert would not disclose how much money was taken.

The woman’s face was captured by a store video camera.

Police are asking that anyone who can identify the woman or her whereabouts call the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office at 540-662-6162 or Crime Solvers at 540-665-8477.
