WINCHESTER — Two men were arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly fighting outside a local business.

Curtis Lamont Erskine, 27, of Winchester and Darius Norman Davis, 41, of Stephens City were charged with drunk in public.

Davis was also charged with assault on a law enforcement officer after allegedly slugging one in the face.

Winchester Police Department spokeswoman Lauren Cummings said officers were in the 200 block of East Cork Street around 1:30 a.m. when they saw the men fighting.

While attempting to stop the fight, one of the officers was separating and detaining Davis when the suspect allegedly swung and struck him in the face.

The officer was not injured in the incident, Cummings said.

Both men posted bond after being taken to jail, according to a Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center official.
