Here's what's happening at noon.

WEATHER: Currently it's 50 degrees and overcast in Winchester. We may see rain this afternoon and into the evening. A high today of 59 and a low tonight of 36. Colder with a 50 percent chance of rain on Tuesday. A high of 43.

STOCKS: Stocks were mixed on Wall Street at noon, with the Standard & Poor's 500 sliding further below a five-year high it reached last week. Apple tumbled on concern that demand for the iPhone 5 is waning.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 11 points to 13,499 as of midday, having fallen as much as 29 points at the start of the day. The S&P 500 fell 3 points to 1,469. The Nasdaq composite index fell 14 points to 3,111.

An average of 95 avalanches were triggered in Utah each year between 2000-2009. More than 40 people were caught in avalanches, almost 19 were partially buried, 6 were totally buried and nearly 4 people a year were killed in them.
