Our View: Wishful thinking? We hope not

Among the reasons cited by the Winchester Police in its proposed extension of the city’s curfew to 17-year-olds is that such a move would “increase parental responsibility for their children.” Hmmmm.

While we support the intent of Chief Kevin Sanzenbacher’s proposal, we have to wonder if parents will exercise greater control over 17-year-olds than they now do over 15-year-olds.

Still, parental buy-in is key. A curfew is only as strong as the unity of purpose binding police and parents is unbreakable.
