Storm forcing closures and delayed openings

Following are some of the area’s storm-related closures and delayed openings:
Public schools in Winchester and Frederick and Clarke counties remain closed today.
Shenandoah University and Lord Fairfax Community College also were closed Monday. As of 6 p.m. Monday, neither institution had announced if they would hold classes today.
The Joint Judicial Center at 5 N. Kent St. will be closed until noon today.
Government offices for the City of Winchester and Frederick County closed at 3 p.m. Monday. When they will reopen had not been announced as of early Monday evening.
Winchester Regional Airport shut down its business operations and terminal at noon Monday, according to an email from airport Executive Director Serena “Renny” Manuel, but the runway remained open. Weather permitting, the terminal will reopen at 7 a.m. Wednesday, if not sooner.
The War Memorial Building at Winchester’s Jim Barnett Park closed at 5 p.m. Monday and will reopen at 9 a.m. today. The Hive and Hive Club will be closed today and all swim lessons and classes are canceled. To reach the Parks and Recreation Department’s cancellation hotline, call 540-662-4946, ext. 2833.
Winchester’s recycling collection scheduled for today has been moved to Wednesday and Wednesday’s yard waste collection has been canceled.
Winchester Transit closed at 6 p.m. Monday. Buses are expected to be operating a normal schedule today.
Horizon Goodwill Industries administrative offices and retail locations closed for business at 2 p.m. Monday and will remain closed today. Goodwill plans to resume operations Wednesday.
