WINCHESTER — The transportation bill that passed the General Assembly drew support from three of the four legislators who represent Winchester and Frederick and Clarke counties.
State Sen. Jill Vogel, R-Upperville, joined 11 Republicans and three Democrats voting against the bill Saturday, but it passed the Senate 25-15.
Vogel could not be reached for comment Monday.
Through a combination of new fees and a higher sales tax, the plan is expected to raise approximately $880 million per year for Virginia’s transportation needs.
All three Republican delegates representing the area voted for the measure Friday, helping it clear the House, 60-40.
