WINCHESTER — For those who still can’t make up their minds about who to vote for in the Nov. 6 election, help has arrived.
A nonpartisan group has launched the Virginia portion of its website to help state voters determine where candidates stand on the issues.
Montana-based Project Vote Smart’s “VoteEasy” website provides individuals with the opportunity to compare their views on various issues with those of the candidates for president and Congress.
Users can enter their positions on abortion, Afghanistan, the budget, the economy, education, energy, environment, guns, health care, immigration, same-sex marriage, national security and Social Security.
Potential voters can also rate the importance of each issue is to them.
Project Vote Smart compiles candidates’ positions using research, voting records, campaign contributions, interest-group ratings, public statements and the candidates’ responses — if they respond — to a Project Vote Smart questionnaire.
Voters seeking help in deciding who will best represent them, if elected, can visit votesmart.org/voteeasy/#/state=va.
