WINCHESTER — A local teen was taken to the hospital and cited for reckless driving Tuesday following a single-vehicle wreck on Va. 37.

According to Virginia State Police Sgt. F.L. Tyler, Amanda Wilson, 18, of Winchester, crashed her 2006 Chevy four-door southwest of Winchester at about 10:30 a.m.

Wilson was southbound on Va. 37 — about a mile north of where it meets Interstate 81 — when her vehicle ran off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned, Tyler said.

Wilson was taken to Winchester Medical Center for unknown injuries, according to Tyler.

Trooper N.J. Houck investigated the accident.

Tyler said that one lane of Va. 37 was closed for a short time but did not cause a traffic backup.
