Learn how to capture the real you in line, shape, and color! In this fun workshop young artists ages 8 to 12 will learn how to paint portraits. Instructor Rhonda Smith, MSV adult and gallery programs coordinator and former art teacher, will explain how artists create self portraits, detail the facial guidelines that are used in portraiture, and demonstrate a variety of painting techniques. Following a discussion introducing the art of portraiture, participants will enjoy a guided tour that will focus on selected portraits in the Museum’s Julian Wood Glass Jr. Gallery. The program will conclude with participants creating a portrait of their very own using the techniques learned in the program. Portraits Alive! is designed for young artists of all skill levels; all are welcome!
MSV Members: $8; all others: $10.
Registration required by October 12; call 540-662-1473, ext. 219, or email acansler@ShenandoahMuseum.org.
