General Eastern Panhandle Home School Conference
ephsc.org When: March 23, 2013 Where: Covenant Church, Shepherdstown, WV Time: 7:30 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. The 5th Annual Eastern Panhandle Home School Conference has shaped up to be the richest conference we've offered. You won't want to miss the robust speaker line up, relevant session topics, and interactive teen track to help you in the homeschool endeavor that we've titled The Road Less Traveled. The 2013 EPHSC features two nationally renowned speakers as keynotes: Our morning session will be led by Veteran Vickie Bentley who has homeschooled 17 children and who is willing to share insight into her own successes and failures through the years in hopes of providing encouragement for your own home school. At noon, Steve Demme focuses on how our relationship with our children mirrors our relationship with God and how we are to use His principles to guide our children. Numerous classes designed specifically for new to homeschooling families include a Compelling Case for Homeschooling; and Charting your Family's Course which will help you set goals and establish priorities. Other classes are designed to strengthen your family and include encouragement for nurturing your marriage in the midst of homeschooling, resolving sibling rivalry, and building family bonds that endure. Many sessions are directed towards families who are entering the high school years with topics ranging from developing a transcript to applying for financial aide for college. The teen track offers an exciting glimpse into the operations of a Federal Grand Jury. Teens will role play and participate in the entire Grand Jury process including questioning witnesses, examining evidence, and learning what is inadmissible in court. This workshop encourages teens to evaluate what it means to be an engaged citizen in today's judicial system. Don't forget about the bargains at the Used Curriculum Sale. Not only could you benefit by being a consignor with the book sale, but you could also benefit by finding much needed curriculum at a significantly reduced price. This conference offering has been a favorite feature in past years. It is important that you register as we are making final preparations with our caterer and session leaders. You can register for the conference, the teen track, and the book sale at the same website: ephsc.org. The EPHSC is a ROAD Grant recipient awarded by the West Virginia Home Educator’s Association.

The fabulous Hall Brothers…WAMA award winner Chick Hall Jr. and Chris Hall, come from a musical background…their father, Chick Hall Sr., owned and operated Chick Hall’s Surf Club just outside of Washington, DC. They grew up in a honky tonk! You can’t get more real than that. And we have Tommy Auldridge on pedal steel. All excellent musicians!
