General Winning with Wellness 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run
Join us, April 6 for our first annual Winning with Wellness 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run! Proceeds from the race will benefit the Frederick County Education Foundation and the FCPS Winning with Wellness program. All participants will be chip timed by Amazing Race Timing. The Kids Fun Run begins at 9 a.m. and the entry fee is $10 prior to March 23; after that date the cost is $15. The 5K Run/Walk begins at 9:30 a.m. and the entry fee is $20 prior to March 23 and $25 after this date. Online registration is available through Chrono Track Live and mail in registration is also available. General Discover Your Inner Poet: Art-Inspired Writing
Organized in conjunction with National Poetry Month and coordinated with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA), this creative writing workshop for ages 11 to 15 will be led by author, educator, artist, and Poet Laureate of Virginia (2006–08), Carolyn Kreiter-Foronda, PhD. Participants will learn about a variety of poetic forms, visit the MSV galleries to select works of art for inspiration, and then try their hand at poetry and prose. This fun, interactive program is for anyone with a willingness to explore the unique qualities of written language that help define each writer’s voice. MSV Members: $10; all others: $12. Selah Theatre Project presents a youth theatre production: Goldilocks Put on Trial. Written by La Tasha Do'zia-Earley. Goldilocks is put on trial by her peers in FairyWood. Sly defense attorney, Jack, tries to convince the jury of many favorite fairytale characters that Goldilocks is innocent. Will she be found guilty?
