|General||Silvan Negrutiu Piano Recital
Tuesday, May 14 • 7 p.m. The MSV and Shenandoah Conservatory are teaming up to bring piano virtuoso Silvan Negrutiu to the Museum for this special recital. Mr. Negrutiu has just completed his Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance Degree at SU and his MSV performance— his last in Winchester before he moves to Illinois—will precede his debut recital at the Kennedy Center. The recital will include music written by Ludwig Van Beethoven, George Enescu, and Alberto Ginastera. The galleries will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. and the café will serve dinner, tea, and dessert from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Wine and beer will be available for purchase in the Museum lobby. Performance seating is first-come, first-served; tickets will be available beginning at 4 p.m. Free to MSV Members, ages 12 & under, and all Shenandoah University students and faculty (with ID); all others: $5.

Saturday, April 20 from 5 – 8 PM Opening Reception for "Going with The Grain" hosted by Live An Artful Life® Gallery. A wood carving demonstration by Sarah Angle will begin at 6 PM. The show celebrates the natural artistic medium of wood. For thousands of years wood has been used for both fuel and tools, but art? You bet and this show will introduce you to six gifted artisans all working in a broad spectrum of wood: Sarah Angle, Bruce Cameron, Linda Deardorff, Barbara Dill, Kyle England, and Nathan Hawkes. Included works will be hand carved sculptures, unusual serving/cutting boards and trays, alder wood vessels, boxes and napkin rings, multi axis wood turned sculpture, hand crafted furniture, wood turned bowls and creative functional items. Free, age limit 18 and over. Show runs through May 19, Wed – Sat 11 – 6 PM, Sun 11 – 4 PM.
