Sports Winchester Green Circle 5k and Kid's Mile
The annual Green Circle 5K and 1-Mile Kid’s Fun Run races, which are sponsored by the Shenandoah Valley Runners and the Shenandoah University Physical Therapy Department, is held on the first Saturday of October each year. The races begin and end at the Abrams Crossing Shopping Center on Jubal Early Drive and are routed through the Abram’s Creek Wetlands Preserve. The 5K race begins at 8:30 am and the Kid’s Fun Run begins at 9:15 am. All proceeds go to support the Winchester Green Circle.

General Ex-Allman Brothers' Johnny Neel in concert
Johnny Neel, Grammy winning ex-member of Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule and Blue Floyd will hold a free concert Friday night at Piccadilly Public House. Johnny will be playing songs from his newest release 'Every Kinda Blues' and other favorites along with his band. If weather allows, the show will be outside starting at 8pm, otherwise it will be inside starting at 9.

General Fall Festival by Joshua's Hands
We’ll have an old fashioned Spelling Bee, entertainment, hay rides, three-legged races, live music, demonstrations, a petting farm and so much more! Our carnival style games are always a hit - everyone wins prizes. This is a celebration for kids of ALL ages – the young and the young at heart! Adults will particularly enjoy the auction at 2 pm. General Conference on the Art of Command in the Civil War
Award-winning conference now in its 16th year brings together nationally-known authors/scholars/historians for a robust weekend discussion on the art of command in the Civil War. This year’s topic is “Prelude to Gettysburg” focusing on the cavalry actions in this area that preceded the Battle of Gettysburg. Weekend concludes with a bus tour. Partial registration available.
