John B. Ostertag passed away Friday June 7, 2019 at his home at 290 Peace Field Ln, Winchester, VA. John was born on October 10, 1934 in Atchison, KS, son of John A. and Enid Harris Ostertag. John served in the US Navy and was retired as a welder-mechanic from Valley Drilling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Alicia and son Casey.

John is survived by his second wife Deborah Elliott Ostertag, first wife Alice Crosen Ostertag, his sons John Blair Ostertag, Joseph Ostertag, and Jacob Ostertag; daughters Denise Burleson, Vanessa Ostertag, Theresa Ostertag, and Kelly Hicks: grandchildren Jasmine Midkiff, Lindsay Phillips, Jessica Boone, Sidney Burleson, Jared Elliott, Zachary Hicks, Kelsey Hicks, Brian Wisecarver; and eight great-grandchildren, as well as his brothers Robert Ostertag, Coulee City WA, Kent Ostertag, Chandler AZ, and sisters Lynn Yazel, Independence, MO and Anne Hall, Oregon Mo.

Family and friends are invited to attend a life celebration to honor John on Saturday June 15, 2019 at 12 p.m. at the Relief United Methodist Church’s shelter, 5275 Middle Rd, Winchester, VA 22602.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations in John’s memory be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester VA, 22601.
