Richard John Hart, Sr. “Rich”

Richard John “Rich” Hart, Sr., 78, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Monday, February 18, 2019, at Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Hart was born in 1940 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, the son of the late John and Betty Hart. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from LaSalle College. Mr. Hart was Vice President of Labor Relations and Human Resources at Manhattan Construction in Florida, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed reading. Mr. Hart was a loyal Auburn fan and enjoyed watching college sports. His greatest passion was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

He married Mary Ann Vandegrift on April 14, 1962 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Surviving with his loving wife of 56 years are daughters, Eileen Lee (Tommy), Mary Kathleen Phillips (David), and Shannon Neff (Jeff); sons, Richard J. Hart, Jr. (Jennifer) and Sean Albert Hart (Angel); grandchildren, Angel Elizabeth Flores (Alex), Christopher Tedford, Cassie Kohart (Storm), Brittany Higgins, Sean Higgins, Maryann Hart, Padric Lee, Erynn Lee, Anna-Claire Hart, Mikael Neff, Colleen Neff, Rebecca Phillips, and Rachel Phillips; great grandchildren, Annaliese, Alayna, and Isabella; and sisters, Jackie Myers (Randy) and Judy Lavelle.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7 p.m., on Sunday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A funeral mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Winchester, Virginia with Reverend Bjorn Lundberg officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rich’s memory to Sacred Heart Academy Tuition Angels, 110 Keating Drive, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
