WINCHESTER — Three Winchester Post 21 pitchers combined on a five-inning no-hitter in a 10-0 American Legion baseball romp against Front Royal on Thursday at R. Charles Hott Field.
Cory Clinedinst picked up the win, striking out five in three innings. Frank Ritter and Joel Smith each had an inning of relief.
Post 21 (15-1-1) took control by sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five runs in the first inning. Jared Tinsman’s two-run single capped the outburst. Kaden Warren (double) and Clinedinst (sacrifice fly) also drove in runs in the inning. Another scored on an error.
Leading 8-0, Post 21 ended the game with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Warren walked, stole second and scored on Caleb Benner’s single. The final run scored on a bases-loaded walk to Jacob Bell, the 10th free pass Post 21 received in the contest.
Ritter’s two hits led eight different players to get at least one hit in the contest. Austin Murphy cracked a triple.
Post 21 hosts a doubleheader against Stafford Post 290 National and American today, starting at 11 a.m.
