U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has a lot of explaining to do, as some in Washington are saying his removal this fall of mail sorting machines at postal facilities is partly to blame for challenges the U.S. Postal Service faced in getting packages delivered during the Christmas season. Of course, the culprit being blamed by USPS officials is COVID-19.

Of course, the men and women of the Postal Service were impacted by the epidemic. Many Christmas gifts that in past years would have been delivered in person had to be entrusted to the mail instead. And many gift purchases that previously would have been made in person at local stores were handled online.

Give credit to U.S.P.S. personnel for doing as well as they did, which was quite well, all things considered. Now, they can add to the famous slogan: Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night nor killer pandemic ...

It is likely there is plenty of blame to go around for the instances of slow delivery and even missing packages that have plagued the busiest shipping season of the year.

U.S.P.S. spokesperson Naddia Dhalai said there have been efforts to address the backlog.

But it all came as too little, too late while far too many people spent Christmas Eve deciding whether to wrap up notes explaining the gifts that SHOULD have been under the tree. And, for those waiting for much more important things — medicine, for example — the excuses from the U.S.P.S. are no comfort at all.

DeJoy and company must waste no time correcting the problems that have been festering for months, and were only magnified in December. And, soon after Joe Biden takes office as president, he and Congress should make resolving the Postal Service’s longstanding problems a priority.

typical tRump incompetency. for the past 4 years we have had a racist clown in office, thus we are in the middle of a racist circus. President Biden and Vice President Harris have so much to do to get things working again. January 20th can not come soon enough.

This is a real problem. Since December 21 I have placed 5 envelopes in my mail box for the USPS Carrier to take. Each envelope included a check for a bill payment. None of the checks have been cashed yet. That represents 100% of the checks I mailed in that period of time. I have not to this day received a statement from a credit card that was closed 12/9. I have not received my electric bill that closed 12/30. This is a real problem for me. I am being forced to go to on line bill payment. That means no income or no business for USPS. Real people are going to lose their jobs and it won't be the pandemic's fault. It will be because people aren't doing their jobs..

dejoy and company need to be investigated for the crimes of sabotaging the usps to keep tRump in office but like everyone tRump hires to do crimes, they were incompetent with their timing. The collapse was suppose to happen in late October, early November, the election but it really happened during the holiday season. I use holiday season to annoy the kkkhrisitans who insist on calling it christmas.

Three weeks ago I sent a first class priority letter with tracking to someone 150 miles away in Virginia. It went to Merryfield to Indianapolis to Norfolk to Charleston WV and back to Norfolk. It still has not been delivered.

When they realized the Democrats where pushing to expand mail-in voting during a pandemic that they were busy denying and lying and obfuscating evidence of, the Trump administration set about to have Dejoy ensure that the gears were sufficiently gummed up enough to slow the delivery of votes (i.e. all mail) down. Remove Trump, replace Dejoy, and return USPS to a functioning service.

NCIS = Rule #39 = There are no coincidences. The Star ignored where the problem originated. P45 exacerbated the USPS finances to serve political ends. Where were the Star editorials when the problems worsened? Silence.

Dejoy followed instructions from his mob boss. Biden has many prioities now, his base is beside themselves with glee at what he's doing on the way out, not understanding they are being hurt too. "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night nor killer pandemic........nor presidential tinkering to try and win an election."
